Redefining Rural Health: Inside the Imperial Valley Community Care Campus
At NHHA, we’re proud to support champion care models that go beyond the basics—models that treat the whole person with dignity, compassion, and connection. That’s exactly what you’ll find at the Community Care Campus in Imperial Valley, operated by our partners at Whole Person Care Clinic and Encompass Housing.
This campus is the first of its kind in Imperial County, bringing together Recuperative Care, Behavioral Health, Housing Supports, Street Medicine, and a Sobering Center all under one roof. It's a powerful example of integrated, person-centered care in action—offering hope, healing, and housing pathways for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Our new Virtual Tour video takes you inside this innovative site, located in Heber, California. Led by Site Manager Joaquin, the tour walks you through the client experience from arrival to discharge. You’ll catch a glimpse of clients engaging in daily life within the campus, from medical check-ins and case management to meals in the dining hall and fresh air on the pet-friendly patio. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how services are delivered with care and intention at every step.
The campus also includes a Day Habilitation program, where clients can build life skills like job readiness and prioritize mental health through various workshops. The residential wing features 43 recuperative care beds, with plans to expand to 100 in the coming months.
Our Community Care Campus Imperial Valley demonstrates what’s possible when healthcare, housing, and heart come together in a coordinated system of care. It’s not just a facility—it’s a foundation for long-term wellness and reintegration.
We invite you to watch and share this virtual tour, and to learn more about how NHHA supports human-centered, high-impact solutions that transform lives and communities.
